Cats and high places

Cats and high places

Cats prefer high places such as trees, but why?

Sitting up high gives the cat a better observation point. From a high spot the cat can scan his area and see what all the people and other pets are doing. In the wild, a higher place can be used as hiding spot from which the cat can hunt.
You have probably seen your own cat in a tree already, scanning his area. But have you ever seen your cat climb down again? Cats can’t climb head first down a tree. This is because every claw on a cat’s paw points the same way. To get down from a tree a cat must back down. Complicated for them but fun for us to watch!

Catnap

Catnap

Cats sleep a lot, an average of fifteen hours a day but why do they do that?

First of all cats are most active around twilight, that’s why they sleep mostly during the day. They recharge their battery so that they can hunt and play again when it gets darker. All this running, pouncing, climbing and stalking takes an amazing amount of energy. Cats are also affected by the weather, just like human beings. They dont like the cold or rainy days and rather stay inside. But for kittens the most important reason is growing. A growth hormone is released only during sleep, something they can’t miss!

Surprise your cat!

Surprise your cat!

Cats love moving objects and are curious whenever they hear a sound.
Now that it’s autumn, inspiring sounds and objects can be easily found right outside your door. So why not take the autumn leaves inside and surprise your cat? Especially for the indoor cat this is a complete new experience because they have never seen autumn this close. By trying different objects such as leaves, chestnuts and branches your cat will experience the smell, colour and shape of nature.

Cat bag experience: Joost

Cat bag experience: Joost

Curious about experiences from users?
Let us introduce you to Joost.

Meet Joost, a long haired Chihuahua of only 13 months old. The Chihuahua is a small dog that comes from the place Chihuahua in Mexico. A Chihuahua is originally a hunter, but Joost just loves to play and run around, excited about everything. I think you will understand that he instantly was excited about the travel bag as well. It only took a few minutes to let him get to know the bag and a few minutes more for him to go in the bag. The size was perfect for him, he could turn, jump and even lay down and there would still be space left. He would peek past the zipper and poke his nose outside the bag to look around and see what was going on. It’s a perfect bag to carry him along when we go to the supermarket or other places where dogs can’t go inside. He can see them and observe what is going on, but they will not see him.

Cat bag experience: Jan

Cat bag experience: Jan

Curious about experiences from our travel bag users?
Let us introduce you to Jan.

This is Jan, a cute little red haired mix. He’s half Persian and the other half is just a typical farm cat. Right now he is 11 weeks old and he will grow up using the Travel bag. When Jan went to his new home he got to travel in the bag right away and ever since he’s been traveling in it whenever and wherever he goes. There is no problem getting Jan in the bag, the real problem is getting him before he has to go in the bag because he has the energy of 10 cats and is obsessed with everything that’s shiny. At home he loves to nibble on the zipper and play with the small leather cord attached to it. While traveling he wants you to poke your fingers through the holes of the bag so he can try to catch and play with your fingertips. Because Jan is a kitten and the owner travels a lot with him he’s getting used to it already, will sleep most of the time during the journey and have energy for 10 again when he gets out.

Cats in ancient Egypt

Cats in ancient Egypt

About 4000 years ago, the wild Egyptian cat conquered the hearts of the people. This was the beginning of the princely life of a cat.

The Egyptians had big grain stocks in their barns. This grain was for all the working people who were in charge of building the pyramids and temples. They soon found out that cats were great hunters that could keep the mice away and they decided to keep the cats. This is how the first domesticated cat arose: The Egyptian Mau. Even today this race still exists. The Egyptians maybe went a little bit overboard by declaring that cats were holy, but we as well do everything for our cat.

LITTLE CAT KISSES

Little cat kisses

Why do cats stare at you and then slowly blink?
Slowly blinking at you is a sign of pure love.
It’s a way for a cat to say he likes you.
Return the slow blink and show your love back in cat body language.

Make slow blink, create a bond.
